The Houston Methodist Cancer Symposium is an annual conference dedicated to the science and clinical care of solid and hematologic malignancies. The meeting will bring together Houston Methodist scientists and physicians from a broad spectrum of fields, including basic, clinical and epidemiological research. A wide range of topics will be covered — from innovative translational science to clinical updates with strategies for implementation in current clinical practice. The program will provide both educational and networking opportunities focused on improving patient care, research collaboration and leading medicine.

DESCRIPTION

The Sepsis Awareness Symposium is a combination of didactic presentations and discussions to enhance learner competency and performance, with the goal of improving care in patients with Sepsis.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES  

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

• Define Sepsis and Septic Shock and understand the extent of the problem
• Describe different modalities in treatment of Sepsis
• List current guidelines in Sepsis care management

Recognize role of quality initiatives for improving sepsis mortality

The course is designed for physician scientists, practicing oncologists, advanced nurse practitioners and physician assistants, residents, fellows, medical students, allied health personnel and clinical research associates.
