Epigenetic alterations play a key role in the initiation, progression, and metastasis of cancer. Therefore, epigenetic marks and mechanisms are potential biomarkers for precision medicine in cancer. We generated systematic chromatin state maps in different cancer cell lines and tumors, combined it with the richness of diverse, orthogonal data types in the CCLE, TCGA and other projects. The chromatin state landscape of these cancer cell lines and tumors provides a unique and important layer to understand the regulation of cancer gene transcription that ultimately affect cancer prognosis and to inform potential new personalized therapy targets.
